SOME INFORMATION ABOUT MYSELF AND S.B.AUSTIN PHOTOGRAPHY... My love and respect for capturing images began as a young photographer/journalist in the late 1960's - an amazing time in American culture and communities that redefined the power of photography to inform, persuade, and entertain. Over the years, my professional career has taken many twists and turns, with the last 19 years spent in the real estate business marketing high end waterfront properties. I continue to work in residential real estate - a career that has given me a relationship with new people, faces, and life stories as well as a unique appreciation for the beauty of northwestern Michigan. But, my natural inclination for photography has never left my mind or my heart and ten years ago I returned to photography with full energy and a mature, more experienced imagination! My photography has changed in fundamental ways since I began as a photojournalist. Today, the ability to process photographs has undergone a transition...now, from image capture to the final print, I am the only person handling my work, which allows complete creative control. This has given me more time and incentive to photograph the diversity of beauty found everywhere. I hope you find my Gallery images an inspiration.
